Reviews for My Editing Services
“It was a complete pleasure to work with Andie. They were enthusiastic, encouraging, flexible, followed my input easily and quickly, and delivered an impeccable edit. Besides a well edited book, I’m that much more excited about the book, thanks to their input. I’ll be working with Andie time and time again.”
—Ela Thier,
author of How to Fail as an Artist (Coming Soon)
and founder of The Independent Film School
“Andie didn’t just edit my book — she felt it. She approached Flight of a Dog’s Soul with both precision and heart, treating every line with the care of someone who truly understood what the story meant. Her feedback was thoughtful, her edits seamless, and her empathy rare. If you want an editor who makes your work better and honors its soul, hire Andie.”
“Andie’s care, consideration, and skill during editing were beyond reproach. She handled sensitive topics with grace and compassion and made the whole process bearable and joyful. Andie’s ability to understand and respect the heart of the story while ensuring its highest quality was genuinely remarkable. I can’t recommend her highly enough.”
“If you’re looking for a copy editor who brings technical mastery, deep respect for an author’s style, and honest but supportive feedback…even under time pressure…I can’t recommend Andie highly enough. They transformed my manuscript into a version I’m proud to share with the world.”
“Andie’s work tightened up my book tremendously. Having her input and guidance was exactly what I needed to make my writing the very best it could be. Having an impartial professional of her caliber is an amazing asset. I would recommend her expertise to anyone.”
“As someone entirely new to the writing world, I expected to feel out of place or underqualified, but Andie made me feel at home. Her edits never stripped the story of its voice; they sharpened and honored it. I walked away not just with a stronger manuscript, but with more confidence in my voice.”
Book Editing FAQs
What kind of books do you edit?
I have a soft spot for memoir or self-help/memoir hybrids; I even have an MFA in creative nonfiction specifically. I like to read about spiritual awakenings, sex and relationships, psychedelic drugs, redemption arcs, trauma (without traumatizing the reader), activism, and other stuff.
I love genre fiction, particularly horror and psychological thrillers. I am a book reviewer (through Reedsy Discovery and here, Page Carver), and I focus primarily on these genres. If you submit a fantasy manuscript to me, please also send a glossary of all the terms you have created for the book, so I can ensure consistency throughout.
What kind of editing do you do?
I offer a unique blend of copy editing and soft developmental coaching services.
My copy editing services include line-level work, and I will consider tone, clarity, flow, and rhythm. Improving syntax and diction while maintaining the author’s unique voice is my specialty. I track my changes in Word, so you can clearly see my edits. As I review your book, I will include comments in the margins of the Word document to suggest rearranging or cutting some parts, to let you know how a scene is coming across to me as a reader, or to explain my edits as needed. I include an editor’s letter when I turn in the manuscript that lets you know what worked well in the book and what could be improved.
What’s your turnaround time on book editing?
I can have the edited manuscript returned to you in four weeks, assuming your book is between 40,000 and 90,000 words and taking into account the other editing projects I’m juggling. You will receive the edited manuscript, along with your editor’s letter, on the agreed upon completion date, in the evening.
How much do you charge for editing services?
I charge $0.025 – $0.03 per word for copy editing/soft developmental editing services. I charge a $100 admin fee up front, I charge 30% of the project cost on week three, and I charge the remaining 70% on the agreed upon completion date.
